A lot of work has been happening in the background. The Fairmont Area Community Center Foundation has now been established. This Foundation is a charitable organization and is the group that will be in charge of raising funds to build the Community Center. It will also partner with the City of Fairmont and the YMCA to operate the facility.

As part of the Foundation, a standing Campaign Committee has also been formed. The Campaign Committee will focus its efforts on general fundraising, community partnerships, and keeping people informed about the project.

The City has also established a Community Center Advisory Board. This Board will make recommendations to the City Council on the planning, construction, and funding of a Community Center.
